Structural Engineer

As part of our team, you’ll work on diverse projects, collaborating with other professionals to deliver high-quality, code-compliant solutions. You’ll be responsible for interpreting project plans, specifications, and shop drawings, and providing clients with well-documented calculation packages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply solid structural engineering principles and code knowledge to design solutions
- Proficiently use CAD/Revit and related software to develop accurate models and designs
- Read and interpret project plans, specifications, and construction documents
- Provide clients with thorough, code-compliant calculation packages
- Collaborate with the team on innovative solutions to meet project goals
- Participate in site visits and meetings as necessary
Preferred Professional Credentials:
- S.E. License or P.E. License
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (or equivalent experience)
- Strong proficiency in structural design, CAD/Revit, and related software
This position primarily involves office-based work, with occasional travel for site visits and project meetings.

Structural Engineer Intern / Coop
Are you a Structural Engineering student looking to gain hands-on experience in structural design? Rice Engineering offers an exciting internship/co-op opportunity for motivated students to apply their academic knowledge in real-world projects. As an intern, you’ll be integrated into an engineering team where you’ll receive mentorship, training on relevant codes, and the opportunity to manage your own structural engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with a team of engineers on various structural design projects
- Gain practical experience with applicable engineering codes and standards
- Manage smaller structural engineering projects under the guidance of senior engineers
- Contribute to the development of design solutions, calculations, and documentation
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate on innovative design strategies
Preferred Coursework:
- Mechanics of Materials (or equivalent)
Requirements:
- Must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program
- Successfully completed Statics or equivalent coursework
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
